Snowboarding Elopement Photographer in Colorado

I’ve been snowboarding for over 20 years and have had the chance to get to teach at Loveland Ski Area, a small local resort on the Continental Divide. So becoming a snowboarding elopement photographer in Colorado has been a dream of mine since starting to document elopements in 2018. I’m so excited to finally be on the map for couples as an adventure photographer who can chase them down the hill as they shred the pow. Bowls and tree runs on a powder day are heaven on earth for me. Just slightly more than hiking in the mountains to catch the gorgeous sunrise alpenglow, but it’s a tight race for first in my heart.

You know those people that you meet and you just instantly want to be their friend? That is Brittany & Nick for me. They’re original elopement plans were to do a snowboarding elopement at Whistler Blackcomb in Canada. But the pandemic put a damper on those plans. Just like it had done for my husband and I’s plans to visit Whistler in March 2020. Their next favorite mountain is Breckenridge so that was their backup plan. And I’m so grateful it was because that led them to me, it was fate written in the stars.

Brittany & Nick traveled out with their family from New Hampshire. They wanted their favorite people involved in their wedding day but knew that a ceremony just the two of them on a side of a mountain with their snowboards was their true elopement calling. It was sub-zero temps outside so we all got extra layers on before heading out. Brittany’s mom, sisters and daughter helped her get ready. We were thankful for big windows with snowy mountain views as none of us really wanted to go outside until we had to because it was below zero. It was the perfect cabin to host their family and Breckenridge is a wonderful winter town for everyone to enjoy, even those who aren’t riding snow.

Photographers don’t deliver raws for a few reaso Photographers don’t deliver raws for a few reasons..

- raws aren’t what most people think they are. They aren’t just an unedited jpeg. JPEGs are actually slightly edited version of the photos. They’re just edited automatically by the camera for the photo to look the best. iPhone’s use AI to edit their jpegs so it’s an upper level of editing. Raw photos are just that, raw, with no adjustments done by the camera (or smartphone) at all. It takes a little bit more editing to a raw image to get it to look like an edited jpeg.

- you have to have certain editing software to edit raw images

- the raw photos don’t represent our work and your edited version won’t be representative of our work either.

Most photographers will sell their raw photos for an additional price. This is often done in the commercial photography industry so the company can edit the photo how they need to and have creative control.

But when you hire a photographer they have creative control. You should be hiring them for their artistry, talent and the final product they deliver.

you two deserve to celebrate big! Your elopement you two deserve to celebrate big! Your elopement with just the two of you (or a few people) deserves the same grandeur of a large wedding! It’s just looks and feels different.

People think elopements mean just an hour or two of coverage because it’s so small. But elopements are just as special and important as a big wedding.

Let’s normalize couples making the most out of their elopement day and celebrating in ways that are as adventurous and unique as you are! You might not be spending as much as a big day would cost but that doesn’t mean your day deserves less of a celebration. You just get to choose to spend your time and money in different ways, ways that are based on your experience and not a party for 150 people.

Think big when you’re eloping! A question I like to ask couples is if money was no issue, what would you do on your elopement day (wedding day- this is still your wedding day!)?!

Or I also like to help them shift their mindset a little.. by letting them know to think of your elopement day as your honeymoon. Your elopement experience can and should be crafted like your honeymoon. Start romanticizing your elopement!!
