This 80s styled awkward engagement photography session in downtown Denver was just the change I needed for a creative kick in the butt. I normally do traditional engagement sessions all over Colorado and in Denver. This one was different in posing and style so it totally made me step outside the box.
H+N dug deep into their closets for this retro, 80s ensemble. We rented studio space at the Denver Photo Collective to start with a few family portraits. At sunset, we went out into the alley to and street to finish it up outdoors. Even the animals got in on the action and went for a little walk.
Downtown Denver is a great location option for an engagement photoshoot. It’s so diverse in the types of spaces that you find. From modern buildings to historic industrial vibes. To urban street art and boutique storefronts. We were along Santa Fe which is one of Denver’s Art districts. It has street art, string lights, and urban storefronts.
They even brought their pets for a leashed stroll around the back alley and some family portraits in the studio. I loved every second of their alt engagement session. When couples let their personalities shine and aren’t afraid to be their weird selves, you get magic like this…. and the memories of dancing in the street wearing fanny packs, sweaters and neon colors.
